November 30th, 2009 - Thank you!!

Our container headed out on Wednesday November 25th full of everything (almost!) we need for Tumaini House! Thank you again to Townsend Lumber for donating all of the wood required and to the Simcoe and Port Dover Home Hardware stores for supplying the rest of the materials needed for Delhi District Secondary School to build us 19 sets of bunk beds!!

There was an “extra” in that container: a pickup truck which will save a bundle of money by allowing us to purchase items wholesale and will also create a job for a dear man I met during my last visit. Sincere thanks go to the following local automotive merchants for donating the parts and services which made Tumaini’s first vehicle not only good looking, but safe: Master Mechanic for checking it over and installing most of the parts which were so kindly donated by Napa Auto Parts; Simcoe Collision for replacing the bumper and rear tail light as well as painting the entire truck; Regional Auto Glass for replacing the windscreen; Freeman’s Tires for providing an entire set of tires; Jiffy Lube for providing an oil change and filter; Cardinal Muffler for replacing the muffler; Stripe-Art for decaling the vehicle with Tumaini’s logo and address (required by law in Tanzania); Apple Auto Glass for repairing the driver’s seat; Perma-Shine for giving the interior a good clean, and Simcoe Toyota for replacing the spark plugs! Further thanks must be given to Vandenbussche Irrigation for providing us with irrigation for our vegetable garden; Berryhill Farms for discounting the chicken incubator I purchased, and Stevens Company for doing the same with a microscope I will give to Dr. Lyimo, and I cannot forget Cindy Pichette of SilverParrotStudio.com who is solely responsible for our beautiful website www.tuchifo.com.  On behalf of our children we thank The Grand Erie District School Board for paying it forward, CD98.9, The Hub, Delhi News Record and Simcoe Reformer for sharing our stories, and of course to all of you who gave so much of your time, energy, money and donations to fill this container for our very needy children in Usa River. Thanks also, if I may, to my family who have embraced (and endured I must admit) my dream and made it theirs whether they've wanted to or not. We didn’t intend to increase the family by 24, it just sort of happened. To all of you, and from the bottom of my heart the very best of the season and Asante Sana!
